Congratulations Victoria!For the third year International Art Treasures has honored a city in North America as the City of Culture. Our European friends celebrate at least one city as the European Union's City of Culture this year Liverpool, England and Stavanger, Norway share the honor. Our first winner for 2006 was Cleveland, Ohio, last year Norfolk, Virginia won. On a personal note, we are delighted that the best entry advocated for a Canadian city, but that certainly is not why Victoria won. Our continent has a wonderful cultural heritage that should be celebrated. That's something International Art Treasures does every month. We are delighted to honor beautiful Victoria, British Columbia as IATWM's North American City of Culture 2008. |
