A native of New York City, like many other talented artists, Norman Rockwell knew from a young age this was his destiny. He took art classes at The New York School of Art (formerly The Chase School of Art) when he was just fourteen years old

Later he would transfer to the Art Students League and study with Thomas Fogarty and George Bridgman. Before his twentieth birthday he was hired as the Art Director for Boy's Life, the official publication of the Boy Scouts of America. His illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post are well known.
