Performing ArtsTafelmusik and the Toronto Consort have recently been featured in International Art Treasures. When IATWM began it avoided coverage of performance art, limiting its coverage to the visual. On rare occasions we broke that rule, last month and again in February we focused on two treasures found on the Toronto music scene. Both Tafelmusik and the Toronto Consort will be featured in the inaugural performance for Sacred Spaces, Sacred Circles Arts Festival, a collaboration of music and architecture scheduled for the Spring of 2008. Doors Open Toronto joins the two musical powerhouses bringing different cultures together in music, dance, visual art and spoken word performances. Art should be inclusive. That IATWM rarely covered performance art did not take away from our appreciation of the genre. Doors Open is a weekend event in Ontario's capital city, where over 150 buildings welcome the public. This year it takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 & 25. Architecture and music is quite a combination celebrating different and in this case complimentary expressions of creativity. |
