Tafelmusik is a Canadian Art Treasure! The musical powerhouse is composed of a Baroque Orchestra and a Chamber Choir. Together this is music at it's finest.

In in 27th season the orchestra has been under the crisp direction of Jeanne Lamon virtually since inception. Intriguing to watch, the music is the star of the show with the audience in the palm of the musicians' hands. Each instrumentalist is a natural soloist that work well along with the truly amazing Lamon. It's enchanting to watch her throw herself into each piece her body moving in sync with the delicious sounds she creates. Tafelmusik is at home in the unpretentious and welcoming Trinity-St. Paul's United Church in Toronto. Yet the groups' fame has grown well past Canada with a hefty tour schedule taking their brilliant Baroque style around the world.

Chamber Choir Director Ivars Taurins, draws exquisite performances at each concert sitting. Under his direction Handel's  Messiah shines. Any singer who has ever attempted to learn the Hallelujah Chorus understands the difficult works require incredible attention, rehearsal and a phenomenal director.  Each Christmas spend an evening letting Tafelmusik perform this masterpiece. If you're in the mood for fun join them at their always sold-out Sing-a-long Messiah and enjoy Taurins in costume as George Frederic himself.

What's ahead? A twist of Mozart and Haydn - Tafelmusik welcomes Belgian violinist, violist and conductor Sigiswald Kuijken, who was both teacher and mentor to Jeanne Lamon. He will lead the Tafelmusik Orchestra through two symphonies by Mozart and Haydn. Later this month Tafelmusik will perform Mozart, Haydn & Bach with a Twist

In March, under the direction of Jeanne Lamon and Ivars Taurins, Tafelmusik presents the Canadian premiere of a special concert program entitled In the Garden of Delights: Music Inspired by the Song of Songs. This original work was created by Tafelmusik double bassist Alison Mackay.

Tafelmusik has an additional treasure. His name is Derek, and he is the vivaciously fun music fan found at Tafelmusik's Box Office,  which can be  found at their Trinity-St. Paul's United church home.
