Poet, writer, musician doesn't begin to illustrate Cohen's versality and brilliance. His words simply flow. Toronto's Drabinsky Gallery hosts
Leonard Cohen: Drawn to Words. Dating back to the mid-1960's the musician kept journals and sketchbooks which are being made available to his appreciative
audience through limited edition prints.
Cohen is unique. While certainly Matisse or Picasso may be an influence these works are pure Cohen. Some of them feature personal text alongside the art. The Hat is whimsical
with the image fitting the text, 'one of those days the hat doesn't help'. There are two outstanding still life works on paper Hydra Table #1
and the same subject in a night time
setting Hydra Table #2.

Traditionally galleries present a series in a solo show. Cohen isn't traditional and neither is this exhibit. It provides a generous selection of his growth and exploration as a visual
artist.
In an outstanding exhibition of Cohen's genius we are drawn to his words.
