Editor's Note

The ongoing battle

To all those who have sent their good wishes while I recover from surgery and battle to return to good health: Thank you!

As I mentioned in last month's editor's note, the process is a learning experience and the first lesson was to trust the nurses and medical team to help overcome this disease.

Cancer has such an ugly connotation. One of the reasons I choose not to be specific last month was seeing the reaction of those that learned of my diagnosis. It appears to be dreadful and shocking when learning someone you know has it, perhaps more so than discovering one has cancer. Perhaps that says a great deal about the love of those who care for me.

Some days are far better than others as I adjust to the ramifications of and the aftermath of the disease. My fantastic surgeon and his team removed all of the cancer from my body. Now I face chemotherapy as a preventative measure to do all I can to make certain the disease does not return. As much as I want and hope to return to a full schedule I await the next step in this journey, which will begin in early April.

March's edition is again late and smaller than we normally like to produce. Quite frankly this is a learning experience as to what I am and am not capable of doing as my body adjusts and I adjust to my new body. Producing International Art Treasures is a joy and something I look forward to at the worst times of this experience. There is always another day. Tomorrow I might feel better and up to getting to work and enjoying art.
