Editor's Note July 2006

Editor's Note

North America's Culture Capital for 2007 is ?

North America deserves to have at least one city honored as the year's cultural capital and IATWM is determined to see it happens.

Cleveland was our selection as North America's Culture Capital for 2006. We're doing it again for 2007!

Entry is easy!

We will accept applications from any North American city's Convention and Visitor's Board or similar official tourism agency for the city.

The application is simple. One representative from the CVB sends an email to Application. In the email we want to know the following information

  • Describe your city's cultural history
  • Art Events planned for 2007
  • The city's official tourism site web address
  • Web addresses for the art event hosts if available
  • Contact information, email and phone number for the CVB Representative

DEADLINE: July 31, 2006

There is not a cost to apply, nor is there a fee for the city who will be featured in a fall 2006 edition as IATWM's North American City of Culture for 2007.

Our readers are free to contact their own cities CVB and ask that they apply or, in a change from last year, we will accept entries from our readers - if your CVB applies we'll consider their response to be the "official" entry. Otherwise we will take the first entry per city as the "official" entry.

We believe in our city and think it is a fabulous place to live and to visit. We hope that our readers feel the same way about their city.

Two cities will not be considered for the 2007 honor, Toronto and Cleveland. Toronto is featured in each edition Cleveland won for 2006.

The deadline for application is July 31, 2006. On August 1st we will delete the email address so any future emails won't be received by us.

For those that apply and do not earn the 2007 honor, keep in mind, you've provided advance notice to IATWM of some fabulous art events in 2007. We have a lot of pages to fill!
