Toronto has much on offer for art fans during the last months of 2005. At the Art Gallery of Ontario is an exquisite loan from the Hermitage of art and antiquities
amassed during the reign of Catherine the Great. Jewelry, paintings, sculpture, tapestries belonging to the Russian
Empress tell
a tale of her tastes and talent. The pièce de résistance is the magnificent Romanov Coronation Carriage.
The Royal Ontario Museum will open Phase I of the Heritage
galleries in December as part of its Renaissance project. On display will be Bishop White Gallery of Chinese
Temple Art, Gallery of Chinese Architecture, Prince Takamado Gallery of Japan, Gallery of Canada: First Peoples and Gallery of Bronze Age Greece
January will showcase the ever popular WinterCity 2006 as Toronto lays claim to her title as the coolest winter city.
The festival runs January 27th through February 9, 2006.
Toronto is a special place to visit anytime but particularly in
the upcoming fall and winter.
