The society advocated for humane working conditions, reintegration of art into daily life and the unification of all forms of art with such catch phrases as "joy in labor", "unity in design" and "fidelity to place".
“This exhibition looks at how the philosophies of the Arts and Crafts movement spread across Europe and to the United States, influencing not only the way objects were made, but how they looked and were used,” CMA Curator of Decorative Arts and Design Stephen Harrison said, adding . “This landmark exhibition is the first to examine how widespread the Arts and Crafts movement became as designers and consumers alike embraced its ideals.”

The Who's rock opera is featured in an exhibit entitled Tommy: The Amazing Journey. “The Who are one of the great bands in rock and roll history, and Tommy is one of their greatest works,” said Jim Henke, the Museum's vice president of exhibitions and curatorial affairs. “We have worked closely with Pete Townshend, who created Tommy, and the result is a comprehensive look at the first rock opera.” Tommy is a boy who becomes deaf, dumb and blind after he witnesses his father's murder and is cured of his ailments via his mastery of pinball.

Next year Cleveland's International Film Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary scheduled to be held March 16-26.
An adage that is more often true than false says that residents do not take advantage of their hometown culture. While Cleveland is a place to visit anytime, not only in 2006 as it reigns as IATWM's continental City of Culture, there is an added bonus for those lucky to call the city home.
Late Out - Late In helps where participating companies accept employees arriving two hours late the day after they attend a live performance or other event. A valid ticket stub is required as proof of enjoyment of a local event. This program is currently supported in 25 USA cities. A city's culture is meant to be enjoyed by all, not limited to tourists.
2006 the place to be is Cleveland - IATWM's honoree as the North American City of Culture.
