Tuscany based artists had a revolution in style during the 16th Century leaving mannerism in the past and moving into naturalism. Light and Shadow delves into the results of the numerous artists who turned to an empirical depiction of nature and imagery rather than conceptual in manner.

One highlight is the inclusion of Rest on the Flight into Egypt, a Orazio Gentileschi masterpiece. It was painted prior to the versions in Vienna and Paris.

Love the Conqueror the sensual work by Orazio Riminaldi is included in this exciting Pisan exhibit. It has been over 30 years since Tuscany last organized and hosted an exhibit dedicated to the influence of Caravaggio upon Tuscan artists.
