Native to Bern, it was in Geneva that Ferdinand Hodler found his calling as a talented artist. The Musée d'art et d'histoire (MAH) has a large collection of his works. They have organized this exhibit at the Musée Rath.  It is focused on Hodler's Geneva experience and it's influence on his work.

Hodler moved to Geneva at the age of eighteen to study the work of artists he admired and hope to emulate including Alexandre Calame and François Diday. Eventually the artist studied at the École des Beaux-Arts under Barthélemy Menn.
