the Jubilee Concert, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the birth of Amati, scheduled for March 6, 2005 in the Theatre aan het Vrijthof.
Original Amati instruments from the 16 - 18th Centuries will be used by the performers.
Gil Sharon, Artistic Director, Maastricht Amati Ensemble and Jubilee Concert Organizer, will have the honor and privilege of playing the oldest

Polyphemus, a Cyclops, was the son of Poseidon and Thoosa. In Homer's
poem Odysseus it is Polyphemus who captured Odysseus, the Greek
hero, from the Trojan War. However Odysseus outsmarted Polyphemus, and after
blinding him, escaped to face the wrath of Poseidon as he sailed home.
The Rodin sculpture, as was common in his works, was reworked several times,
leading some to suspect the figure was meant to be Narcissus, but the large
Cyclops eye is very telling as to the figure depicted.
