The goal of the Art Supermarket or Kunst Supermarkt is to bring excellent art to everyone, with the added caveat that is affordably priced. Each artist is requested to present 40 original art works of the highest quality that is available for sale at pre-determined prices of CHF 99, 199, 399 and the highest cost CHF 599.

The artists include Martin Steiner, Brigid Ibell, Theo Noll, Annina Martinoni, Denise Vanazzi and pINg.pONg.

Martin Steiner

Martin describes Light and Shadow on a Tree, as, "A black and white infrared analog photo which I printed out on fine art paper. Infrared photography can be done with analog or digital, this one was made on infrared film. The advantage to that film is the sensibility in red color cast reaches lower infrared frequency which the human eye cannot see."

The artist continues to explain his chosen genre, "Infrared is slow photography which I prefer. I started with infrared photography 2 years ago finding that the first weeks it was difficult to learn, yet with practice the results were both acceptable and fun!"

Brigid Ibell

Brigid has lived and worked in Frankfurt, Germany for the previous two decades.

She studied with Hermann Nitsch at the Staedel Academy in Frankfurt. She prefers to work with oil and pigments.

Theo Noll

German Artist Theo Noll explains, "All of my paintings are made with oil colors." He adds, "Often they are landscapes or color bands that fly in the air like flowers or dancing lines."

Annina Martinoni

Annina's work Somebody is Gone was produced in 2004.

The artist works in a mixed medium technique combining tempera, gouache and pencil.

Denise described the painting, left, as part of a series called Wintersymphonie or Winter Symphony. Adding, "On my long walks I tried to grasp a part of the secrets of nature and to translate them into color and shape. My works invite you to mediate until you feel your own creativity, your thoughts and association rising within your mind."

pINg.pONg

Wanda Bader and Adrian Müller are collectively known as pINg.pONg.

Wanda explains, "We are painting together on one image. If it is a big format then we work together at the same time on one sheet. Otherwise one of us begins and the other continues, like ping-pong."
