The Grand Tour
In previous edition's of IATWM we have covered some of the most
spectacular works in the world.
September 2004 is our first feature article on Germany. Where better
to begin than the home of the most famous rendition of Madonna and
Child, Dresden Germany, where art fans will find the Sistine Madonna.
Raphael's work includes the image of the two cherubs at the bottom of
the painting who by themselves are celebrated.
Dresden has so much more to offer than one painting, but oh what a
painting.
London has Raphael's Madonna of the Pinks
at the National Gallery in an exhibition that will open in October. Why
review an upcoming exhibition so early? Easy! Among the splendid works
at the National Gallery is the Madonna of the Pinks, and it will
later go on tour. For those wishing to view this work, now is the time
to make arrangements either to visit London during the later fall or
wherever the work will travel next.
Our advice to art travelers, if you are planning a trip to see one
specific
work either ensure its a permanent part of the museum or galleries
collection or isn't on tour. Usually a review of the websites is all
that is necessary to ensure that the highly anticipated moment of your
trip is met.
