The Miley Retrospective
Artists and spouses, Douglas and Lilly Miley together represent over 75 years
of painting.
Douglas takes much inspiration from the 19th Century Hudson River
School,
describing his work as "a mystical scene from nature, a sort of poetry in
color."
His first artistic attempts were pencil sketches at the tender age of 4.
His 8th birthday gift, a set of oil paints, set him on the path to his career.
An Ohio native, he eventually settled in Prescott, Arizona.
Douglas Miley illustrated for the United States Army for two years and the Campbell Soup Company
for 11 years, preceding his relocation to Arizona.
Douglas won first prize in oils at the 2001 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.
Lilly Miley prefers oil and pastel, with subjects ranging from landscape scenes to floral still life.
A former real estate broker Lilly would present new homeowners with one of her original works as a
housewarming gift.
The Douglas and Lilly Miley Retrospective will be hosted by the Prescott Fine
Arts Association Gallery in beautiful Arizona beginning July 30 and continuing
until August 29, 2004.
