Bruun Rasmussen:
International Paintings and Works of Art

Copenhagen
June 9-11, 14-15, 2004

Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers of Fine Art is one of the ten largest auction houses. Founded in 1948 by Arne Bruun Rasmussen, it has remained in the family under the management of Arne's son Jesper.

Works from Danish master, Jens Juel (1745-1802) noted for his sensitive portraits, are included in this action. Highlights are his paintings of Commercial Counsellor Beylen and his wife in 1764, Jacqueline H. E. Sénebier in 1778 and Chamberlain Frederic von der Maese in 1783.

Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916), a Copenhagen native, mastered many genres including portraits, architectural renditions and landscapes. He is best known for his quiet interior paintings oft compared to Vermeer with a single figure the focus of the work. Most of his works naturally are in museum collections, however there is a rare opportunity for art lovers to acquire two of his spectacular pieces with Interior with the Artist's Wife Ida at Home in Strandgade 30, (Interiør med kunstnerens hustru Ida i hjemmet i Strandgade 30) and Bed Chamber (Sovekammer) available.

Bruun Rasmussen's five day auction is spread over two weeks with more than 850 lots awaiting the auctioneer's gavel.
