Montgomery, Alabama, on December 1, 1955. A bus driver told Rosa Parks to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man. When she  refused she was arrested, found guilty of disorderly conduct, and fined. In response the African American community decided to extend its one-day bus boycott to protest her treatment.  Harvey Dinnerstein and Burton Silverman effectively captured the cataclysmic event in their artwork.
